A message from our Rector and Vicar
- Rev. Lisa Busby
Well, summer is here! It's funny how last year at this time, Gary and I were just settling in, and we didn't notice the heightened change of activity along the river that always happens during the summer. This year, though, we noticed the HUGE change in activity (and traffic patterns).
I suppose my awareness of traffic patterns is heightened by the additional travel up and down Route 12. Even still, I have greatly enjoyed the opportunity to lead worship in all three River Parishes, and feel truly blessed to be a part of something so wonderful. Thank you to all for loving this place and each other with such warmth and conviction!
All in all, it has been a busy and glorious summer. The time is passing quickly, with more things to come. Looking forward to the month of August, during the week of August 12-16, I will be away at Syracuse University for a week long residency program for the "Fellowship for Emerging Leaders in Ministry" - a six month program designed to inspire innovation and transformation for mission based faith communities in central NY. It is my hope that the skills gained in this endeavor will help to ensure the longevity and growth of our ministry along the river.
Immediately following, I will be on vacation with my family, returning on August 25th. If you have a pastoral emergency during my time away, please call the Sr. Warden of your church (Christ Church: Greg Lago 315-686-5722; St. John's: Colleen Mercer at 914-388-1769; Church of St. Lawrence: Bari Bryant at 315-686-5680), and arrangements will be made as needed.
In addition, the Toast of the Town Committee is busy making preparations for the September 19 event to be enjoyed by all. Don't forget to purchase your ticket! Remember, to be eligible for the $200 Early Bird Drawing, tickets must be purchased before August 1. Please contact a member of the committee if you are interested in donating items for the Silent Auction. New this year - 5% of the proceeds from the Auction will be donated to a TI high school graduating senior who will be furthering their education.
In the midst of the busy, don't forget to pause and spend some time with God. Be thankful for who you are, live in to the person God made you to be, and then pass it on to another.
In the peace and love of Christ,
- Rev'd Lisa+
